tulsa-attorney-rail-line-connecting-tulsa-to-OKCState transportation officials on Monday finalized the $75 million sale of a rail line between Sapulpa and Midwest City with the new owner saying a six-month trial passenger service should be available in 2015, according to a report in the Tulsa World.

Tulsa and it’s neighbor city, Oklahoma City, are separated by approximately one hundred and twenty miles.  This distance is tiny.  The speed limit a fast paced 75 mph between the two.  This distance becomes prohibitive though when not intending to spend the night in the other city.

When would this occur?  When drinking is involved.  As such a passenger rail that connects the two is always on the minds of local residents.

It is doubtless that in the coming decades this distance between the cities will continue to shrink as suburbs grow and farm lands shrink.  A rail line serving passengers is a big step towards the future of the region.

Tulsa residents can look forward to a day when they can take a rail line to OKC, watch the Thunder and enjoy the suds, and pile into the train for a short trip back to Green County.

This article indicates that there is change coming our region.  No longer will travel only be afforded to those who want to take their automobiles.  As a Tulsan I look forward to 2015 and the exciting changes it might bring.  I hope you all do as well.
